Case Highlights
Kubuqi 310MW Sand-Solar Hybrid Project, spreading over 1,667 hectares, has adopted a new development strategy with “Desertification Control+ Grass Cultivation + Breeding + Power Generation + Poverty Alleviation”. The project has an average annual power generation of 550 million kWh, and is expected to reduce 7 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions during the whole life cycle. The large-scale modules covering the desert effectively reduce the negative impact of sunlight & wind on the soil. Besides, the projects is combined with micro-spray and drip irrigation technology to develop off-board agriculture, greatly enhancing the survival rate of plants and leaving a good habitat for the agriculture and animal husbandry. With the remarkable desertification control, the project was recognized by United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and selected for United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) as the winner of Sustainable Soil Management Project in 2021.
