Yurbaqua Project, in Cartagena, drives Colombia’s energy transition with 2.8 MWp of clean power and cutting-edge technology

Astronergy is proud to announce its role as the module supplier for the Yurbaqua Floating Solar Park, the largest floating solar plant in Colombia and the second largest in all of Latin America. Located in Turbaco, Bolívar, the project is led by Enexa and results from a strategic partnership with Parque Central Zona Franca, marking a major step toward Colombia’s sustainable energy future.
With a total installed capacity of 2.8 MWp and covering more than 18,000 m² of water surface, Yurbaqua will prevent the emission of over 3,180 tons of CO₂ per year, while generating enough clean electricity to power around 3,000 households. By utilizing water surfaces instead of productive land, the project promotes a more sustainable and environmentally conscious development model.

For Enexa, the Yurbaqua project represents a milestone in the region’s energy sector:
“Participating in the construction of the largest floating solar plant in Colombia and the second largest in Latin America is a great source of pride. Yurbaqua reflects our commitment to sustainable energy solutions that respect the environment and deliver a positive social impact. We are confident this project will become a benchmark for innovation and responsible use of natural resources,” said Daniel Maya, CEO from Enexa.
The plant will be implemented in two phases: Phase 1 (1.37 MWp), scheduled for grid connection in June 2025, and Phase 2 (1.37 MWp), expected to be completed by January 2026. As of now, the project is already 85% complete.
The modules supplied by Astronergy are the bifacial ASTRO N5 model, each with a power output of 585 W. In Phase 1 alone, 2,352 modules were installed. The plant’s expected annual energy output is approximately 4,720 MWh, making a meaningful contribution to Colombia’s clean energy matrix.
“Enexa’s choice of Astronergy modules for the Yurbaqua project reinforces our commitment to high-efficiency and reliable solutions. For the supply of these modules, Astronergy carried out a joint technical effort with Enexa and the floating structure manufacturer to ensure full compatibility and the validity of Astronergy’s warranty for this project. This initiative is a clear demonstration of how technological innovation, combined with strategic partnerships, can accelerate the energy transition and generate large-scale social and environmental benefits,” said Juan Camilo Navarrete, Sales Director at Astronergy for Latin America.
The project marks a significant milestone in Colombia’s journey toward a more sustainable future and stands as yet another example of Astronergy’s dedication to high-performance solar solutions that create a lasting, positive impact in communities.
