As global demand for sustainable energy continues to grow, Malaysia’s residential solar market is entering a new phase with the transition from NEM 3.0 to Solar ATAP, supported by the newly introduced SuRIA Home incentive program.

In Ormeau, on Queensland’s Gold Coast, a Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) home now generates more electricity than it uses. Completed in 2025, the project paired 18 solar panels with a battery system designed to enhance energy resilience for residents who rely on electrically powered support equipment in their daily lives.

Germany has long been regarded as one of the world's most mature solar markets. With more than 100 GW of installed solar capacity and one of Europe's highest levels of distributed solar adoption, the country is now entering a new phase of its energy transition—one in which integrating renewable energy efficiently is becoming just as important as deploying it.

In October 2023, the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) entered its transitional phase. Beginning in 2026, the mechanism will move into its financial implementation stage, further strengthening the link between carbon emissions and international trade. Aluminum, one of the materials commonly used in PV module frames, is already covered by CBAM, while the potential inclusion of additional PV-related products continues to be discussed across the industry.
